“What is this thing that I hear about in the land? What’s this news that everyone is whistling about Ndeko’s son who left three years ago? Is it true, that he has returned from Europe with three cars and bags full of money? Hmm! This is a dream. Ndeko’s story has indeed changed. Men would revere him far beyond the boundaries of Kamatu. They would know his name and sing his song across the seven hills to the hearing of the gods. Wait a minute, look at ordinary Ndeko, he’s not even a Kwifon title holder, yet everyone now knows his name. How can a man with barely two feathers and no bead on his cap get all this fame?
